If you believe you would benefit from mentoring to achieve your career goals in 2026, and you are actively freelancing as a fashion illustrator or designer, then attach a short 300 word summation of why you want to join the programme along with a link to your online portfolio and social media handle.
In partnership with Fashion Illustration Africa, Yéga will be offering Mentorship to early-career fashion illustrators. This online mentorship programme will focus on building a sustainable prac in fashion illustration, attracting the right clients and forging an artistic identity that stands out.
It's open primarily to illustrators of African descent, but any talented illustrator who is actively working within the African fashion industry can apply.
The mentoring will run from September to December 2027. There will be one online group session a month, centred on portfolio critiques/review and career advice.

The inaugural cohort of the Fashion Illustration Africa mentoring scheme is made up of some of the most promising female artists and illustrators on the African continent.

Beginning in January 2024, the mentoring scheme will take place over 6 months till June 2024. Equipping them with skills to build sustainable businesses and contribute to the creative economy which is forecast to be a major contributor to the continent's GDP over the next decade.

Yéga is proud to be delivering the sessions which are in line with the founding ethos of Fashion Illustration Africa. The fashion industry relies on creative talent to thrive and some of the best can be found in Africa. With a youthful population, 50% of which is under the age of 30, equipping them with self sustaining and global skills will be essential over the next decade.
